Events in the Village

Bringing the community together

Events are a great way to bring people together for days and nights of fun. There is always an action packed events calendar in Churchill & Sarsden and below is just a selection of some of the biggest and recurring events.

Churchill Car Show

Sunday June 9th, 2024

Churchill Car Show is back!

Sunday, 9th June

Mark the date in your diary!

Beginning in 1988 as a ‘Cavalcade of Cars’ to raise funds for the local community, the bi-annual Churchill Car Show had become a major event in the UK car enthusiast calendar by the time of the last event in 2018. Churchill welcomed over 500 exhibitors and more than 5,000 visitors from all over the country – quite a lot for a small village! After a too-long absence, we are so happy that the show is back for 2024.

This year’s Show will be a slightly smaller event – around 130 exhibitors – but it will be a wonderful day out for the whole family. We will have a children’s play area, food & beer tent, and local business trade area and of course a wide and varied selection of CARS! We welcome classic cars from all eras, but our focus for this year is Supercars from the 80’s and 90’s – so look forward to Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Aston Martins – lots of very flashy wheels!

As well as amazing cars, there will be a plenty of food and drink available, with our village beer tent, BBQ grill, artisan pizza and gin bar, with afternoon teas in the Village Hall.

It promises to be a wonderful day!

Tickets for visitors cost £10 for adults, £5 for children or £20 for a family (2 adults & 2 kids).

Full details, including for would-be exhibitors,  are at the dedicated website,

Bank Holiday Monday May 6th, 2 – 4 pm

Teas on the Green

Bank Holiday Monday May 6th, 2 – 4pm

Our annual Teas on the Green event was a huge success!

Despite less than perfect weather, the event was extremely well-attended!

We had an amazing array of delicious teas and cakes supplied by our wonderful team in the village hall, and the beer and bubbly bar was moved into the committee room to avoid the dampness!

Our plant stall sold all manner of lovely plants and was a huge boost to the final tally.

Our numbers game was also a sell-out, adding £300 to the total. The lucky winner of the Chequers voucher was Jason Ratcliffe, and the second prize of a bottle of champagne went to Sophie Jenkins.

In all, a grand total of £1650 – best ever result for this event – was raised towards our refurbishment program – (more details about that coming very soon!)

Huge thanks to everyone who attended, and to all the volunteers, committee members and cake bakers who worked so hard to make it all happen!

Churchill Cheese and Wine Club

January 19th, 2024  /  7.30pm

An evening of cheese and its making, paired with exquisite wines!

Friday, 19th January / 7.30 – 9.30 pm

Our Cheese and Wine Club was a sell-out hit!

A packed Village Hall enjoyed a most fascinating evening on Friday night, in the company of master cheesemaker Sasha Serebrinsky, our very own wine genius Vincent Lecointe from the Chequers, hosted by author and cheese connoisseur Steve Parker. We were delighted to welcome so many of our neighbours and friends, and we hope you all had a good time.

We have received some lovely feedback from some of our guests:
From Oly: “We really enjoyed the evening. It was very well run, interesting and delicious! More importantly we met some very lovely people!”
From Sarah: “We had a wonderful time! … there was a great atmosphere with a wonderful feeling of village ‘togetherness’. We received a lovely welcome on arrival from your team … I thought the room was set up beautifully, tablecloths and decorations were nicely presented, good quality glasses, very professional menu with tasting notes… I found the talks interesting, I thought 3 cheeses and wines was just the right number and I found Vincent’s wine pairings were unusual and worthy choices.”

Thanks so much to everyone that came along, we so appreciate it.

Huge thanks go to Lionhearth for so generously donating all of the gorgeous wines for the evening. They were spectacular!

Thanks to the Village Hall team that worked so hard to put it all together!

And of course – thanks to our three cheese and wine heroes for so generously donating your time and sharing your passion and expertise:
Sasha Serebrinsky
Steve Parker
Vincent Lecointe

If you would like to find out more about the cheeses we tasted, please reach out to Sasha on Instagram here.

Steve Parker  has written numerous learned books on the subject of cheese and wine available from Amazon here, or you can follow his cheesey travels around the country on Instagram here!

And of course, Vincent is usually on hand at the wonderful Chequers for any wine enquiries. Keep some of that white port to one side for us, Vincent!

Proceeds of the evening will go to support the Village Hall Refurbishment project.

Village Hall Christmas Party 2023

Celebrate the season with neighbours & friends

Friday, 8th December / 7 – 9 pm

Our annual festive get together was a lovely occasion!

The hall was full and the wine and canapés were outstanding. Our Prize Quiz was a great success, everyone got involved and the victorious team won a £100 gift voucher for dinner at the Chequers.

Our thanks to everyone who contributed: the catering team who provided delicious canapés in great quantities; our tireless wine waiters who kept everyone topped up; Quiz Emcee Paul Branch who managed to keep control of a rowdy crowd; but especially to Vincent Lecointe at the Chequers who not only provided the quiz prize but also very kindly donated all of the wine for the evening!

And of course thanks so much to everyone who attended! Wishing you all a very merry Christmas!
