The Villager
The rolling hills and narrow lanes of the Cotswolds are beautiful, but navigating them without a car can be a challenge. Since 1982 a volunteer-run community bus has kept these rural corners connected.
The Villager runs a fleet of 16-seater mini-coaches, built for the tightest, prettiest, and otherwise inaccessible lanes, filling the gaps left by commercial operators. Services run Monday to Friday around the local hubs: Chipping Norton, Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh, Burford and Witney. Pay with cash, or a national bus pass.

One morning or afternoon a fortnight
As a service run entirely by the community, for the community, The Villager relies on local residents to keep its wheels turning. The driving is far from onerous. If you enjoy driving, hold a clean licence, and can spare a morning or an afternoon a fortnight, the team would be delighted to have you on the rotation. No special licence is required; full training is given.

Lifts-R-Us
If you are an elderly resident of Churchill or Sarsden, this free, door-to-door service is here to help. Sponsored by the Village Hall, volunteers provide transport to and from essential local medical appointments: the doctor, the dentist, the optician. They can also collect pre-ordered prescriptions from local surgeries and pharmacies.
The team is always looking for volunteer drivers and coordinators, so if you have a car and an hour or two, do get in touch.
